Your biker holiday in South Tyrol

Riding fun on winding mountain roads

Steep mountain passes that wind up in tight hairpin bends and wonderful panoramic views of rugged rocky peaks make South Tyrol an El Dorado for motorcyclists. Junior host Christian is an enthusiastic biker himself and will be happy to help you choose the most beautiful routes. He knows the most beautiful itineraries in the Dolomites and enjoys chatting about his excursions. During a day trip, you may discover charming routes around the Sella Massif and cross the passes Giovo and Stelvio. Fantastic routes lead to the Timmelsjoch and through the Isarco Valley. The episcopal city of Bressanone can be reached in around 30 minutes by motorbike and many medieval castles and palaces offer attractive destinations for a motorcycle tour.

Across the Pusteria Valley

The Pusteria Valley is rich in curves and stretches from Bressanone for around 60 km to the east. The length of the tour is variable: For example, you may start your tour in Bressanone and ride to Lake Misurina and Cortina. If you then continue west towards the town of Chiusa and then turn north, you will have completed a fantastic tour of the Dolomites. But even from the Pusteria Valley you can explore picturesque side valleys – the Val Gardena, the Aurina Valley near Brunico, the Anterselva Valley or the Braies Valley with the famous Lake Braies. This tour, which can be combined in a variety of ways, is a must for holidaymakers in Maranza!

Circular tour across the Giovo Pass

The varied Giovo Pass tour is surely the highlight of any motorcycle holiday in South Tyrol. This 200 km long round tour will delight even experienced bikers: From the medieval city of Vipiteno, the route heads south up to the breathtaking Penserjoch Pass (2,211 m). Due to the local weather conditions, this route is open only from May to November. Via Sarnthein you ride down to Bolzano, then through the idyllic Adige Valley to Merano and then on to St. Leonhard in the Passiria Valley. Here begins the 32 km route back to the Isarco Valley, which takes you between the Ötztal Alps in the north and the Sarentino Alps in the south. The guardians of the Giovo Pass – the highlight of the tour – are the impressive peaks Jaufenspitz (2,483 m) and Saxner (2,359 m).

Over the passes Palade and Mendola

This tour takes you south past Bressanone and Chiusa. In Bolzano, turn northeast into the Adige Valley and drive to Lana, from where you climb the magnificent Palade Pass. You’ll arrive to Fondo, where the next pass adventure already awaits you: over the no less exciting Mendola Pass, known for its curves, you return to Bolzano and the Brennero motorway. Before heading home, it is always worth taking a detour to Lake Caldaro.

The 5-Passes-Tour

This time you start in Chiusa in the Isarco Valley. The approximately 230 km tour is sometimes demanding and requires a certain amount of experience. You drive through the Val Gardena to Selva and over the Gardena Pass to La Villa. But this is where the real biker’s dream begins: you first take the Valparola Pass, then the Falzarego Pass and then arrive at the Pordio Pass at 2,248 m. From here, the view of the Dolomites is indescribable! You now ride down the Fassa Valley via Canazei and Vigo before climbing up the Carezza Pass. The return journey takes you through the Ega Valley via Bolzano and Bressanone. Please check beforehand whether the weather conditions allow this tour.
