The sunny village of Maranza lies on an alpine plateau above the Isarco Valley and is surrounded by a pristine mountain landscape. Around 280 days of sunshine a year make the village one of the sunniest places in South Tyrol. From an altitude of 1,400 metres, the view opens up to the bright limestone cliffs of the Dolomites and the main alpine ridge with the mighty peaks of the Stubai, Ötztal, and Zillertal Alps. A holiday in Maranza offers a pleasant break from everyday life. Flowering meadows in spring, the scent of fresh hay in summer and brightly golden forests in autumn make the sunny village of Maranza the perfect holiday destination for nature lovers, hiking enthusiasts, and active holidaymakers.
The mountain region around the sunny village of Maranza is a hiking paradise with an extensive network of hiking and mountain bike trails. Our local mountain is the 2,510-metre Mount Gitschberg, at the foot of which lies the ski and alpine region Gitschberg Val Giovo. As many as 30 alpine huts invite you to stop off and enjoy alpine specialties in summer. You can enjoy a fantastic view from the summit of Mount Gitschberg during your holiday in Maranza. In clear weather, more than 500 mountain peaks are visible from the panoramic platform near the summit cross.
Skiing, cross-country skiing as well as tobogganing are the main sporting activities during the winter months. During your holiday in Maranza, the modern cable car will take you directly to Mount Gitschberg in no time. At high alpine altitudes, a winter sports area with perfectly groomed slopes and quaint alpine huts to stop for a break awaits you. The nearby Val Giovo is a paradise for ski tourers and snowshoe hikers, while tobogganing fans will get their money’s worth on the longest toboggan run in South Tyrol, the 6.75 km Gitschberg toboggan run. Beautifully situated panoramic trails and challenging circular trails in the area around Maranza will make the hearts of cross-country skiers beat faster.
